GIVING BACK

IN 1995, CONGOLESE SISTER MAKENGA ARRIVED IN VENEZUELA’S NORTHWESTERN AND FOUND VERY HIGH LEVELS OF MALNUTRITION IN THE GUAJIRO INDIAN CHILDREN.

WITH THE HELP OF THE MISSIONARY SERVICE AND THE GUAJIRO INDIANS' COMMUNITY LEADERS, SISTER MAKENGA RESPONDED TO THE HIGH LEVELS OF MALNUTRITION BY FOUNDING CEPIN, AN INDEPENDENT NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION. CEPIN IS DEDICATED TO FEEDING, CLOTHING AND TEACHING OVER 400 GUAJIRO INDIAN CHILDREN DAILY.

"I FOUND THESE CHILDREN EXTREMELY MALNOURISHED. I WANTED THEM TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE HEALTHY AND FIND HAPPINESS IN THEIR LIVES. TO GROW UP TO BE DIGNIFIED HUMAN BEINGS— AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, FIND A USEFUL PLACE IN SOCIETY.” — SISTER MAKENGA, 2014

THE GUAJIRO CHILDREN'S PARENTS MAKE LESS THAN THE MINIMUM WAGE, MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO SUPERVISE THEIR CHILDREN OR PROVIDE THEM WITH HEALTHY MEALS. CEPIN ALLOWS FOR THESE CHILDREN TO BE HEALTHY AND HAVE A CHANCE AT A BRIGHTER FUTURE.

YOSUZI NOT ONLY PROMOTES HIGH-QUALITY, HANDCRAFTED PRODUCTS, BUT ALSO SUPPORTS A CULTURALLY VIBRANT COMMUNITY. DEEPLY COMMITTED TO GIVING BACK TO THE GUAJIRO COMMUNITY, A PORTION OF EACH SALE GOES TO CEPIN, A NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION DEDICATED TO THE HEALTH, CLOTHING AND EDUCATION OF VULNERABLE GUAJIRO INDIAN CHILDREN.
